PLANE MAKES EMERGENCY LANDING NORTH OF BRENHAM AIRPORT, NO ONE INJURED

  

No injuries are reported after a plane had to make an emergency landing on Sunday, north of Brenham.

First responders were called out around 3:30 p.m. to Hopmann Road and Old Independence Road, north of the Brenham Municipal Airport, for a reported plane crash in a field.

Details of how the incident occurred are not yet known, but the Brenham Fire Department’s report stated that a single engine plane was found upright in the field, with the plane’s occupants standing beside it. 

The fire department and DPS confirmed there were no injuries for the two who were on board the plane.  Firefighters surveyed the plane and found no fluids leaking. 

Interim Airport Manager Jim Halley provided a statement, saying, “There was an aircraft incident off airport property yesterday afternoon where an aircraft landed in an empty field.  We are thankful that there were no injuries and grateful for the quick response from our emergency responder partners.”

Halley said the incident is under investigation with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).  Tom Munkhaugen, Front Line Manager for the FAA’s Houston Flight Standards District Office, said an inspector was on their way to Brenham this (Monday) morning to investigate, but could not provide further comment at this time.
