The 25th-ranked Blinn College women's basketball team endured a tough night on its home court against No. 10 McLennan Community College on Tuesday, falling 64-39 at the Kruse Center in Brenham, Texas.

The non-region setback dropped the Buccaneers to 7-2 overall this season.

"Offensively, we struggled the entire night, and I give McLennan a lot of credit for that," Blinn head coach Jeff Jenkins said. "I actually thought we played fairly good defense tonight. McLennan shot the 3-pointer extremely well, but I thought for the most part we contested shots and rebounded when they did miss."

The Buccaneers kept things close in the first period as they trailed just 18-13 after the opening 10 minutes of play. The Highlassies turned up their defensive pressure in the second period, however, out-scoring Blinn 18-2 to take a 36-15 advantage into halftime.

McLennan carried a 47-29 cushion into the fourth quarter.

Blinn sophomore forward Tocarra Johnson tallied a team-high 12 points for the Bucs.

Up next for Blinn is the two-day Blinn Classic, beginning with a tilt against Ranger College at 5:30 p.m. on Friday at the Kruse Center. The Bucs will then take on Western Texas College at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
