Washington County Judge John Durrenberger has been recognized as a Fellow of the Texas Judicial Academy by the Texas Association of Counties (TAC).

commissioners court's meeting on July 16th.

According to a TAC press release, the honor is awarded to county judges who “demonstrate a commitment to judicial excellence by surpassing the state’s minimum education requirements.”

Durrenberger was one of several county judges inducted as Fellows during the Academy’s 2024 Fall Judicial Education Session, held last month in College Station.  The program celebrates judges who pursue continued learning to better serve their counties.

The Texas Judicial Academy is a collaboration between TAC and the Texas Tech University School of Law.  The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals oversees the educational program, which includes instruction by higher court judges, law school faculty, experts from the Texas College of Probate Judges and the National Judicial College, and Texas legal experts.  The partnership is to ensure that county judges across the state have access to high-quality training and resources.
