CUB BASKETBALL REMAINS UNBEATEN IN DISTRICT WITH A WIN OVER LAKE CREEK
The Brenham Cub Basketball Team remained unbeaten in district with a 58-43 victory on the road at Lake Creek this past Friday.
The Cubs jumped out to a lead on the Lions in the first half and never looked back. Brenham outscored Lake Creek 14-10 in the first quarter and 15-10 in the second quarter to take a 29-20 lead into the locker room at halftime.
Lake Creek came back to outscored Brenham in the third quarter 19-17, but the Cubs still led 46-39 going into the final eight minutes of play.
Brenham then put the game away by outscoring the Lions 12-4 down the final stretch to secure the win.
Elijah Ferguson led the way with 18 points. Issac Powell finished with 16 points. JaKobe Mathis had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Jayden Hebert chipped in with eight points and eight rebounds.
The win improves the Cubs to 19-7 overall and 5-0 in district.
Brenham wraps up the first half of district tomorrow (Tuesday) night in College Station. The opening tip-off is scheduled for 6:30pm.
