KOONCE, COLLEY, KRENEK ELECTED TO BRENHAM SCHOOL BOARD
The Brenham School Board will have two new faces and one returning member, following Saturday’s election.
Shawn Koonce, Justin Colley and Jared Krenek were elected to represent trustee positions 5-7.
Koonce defeated David Jantzi 1,627-1,526 to fill the Position 5 seat held by the outgoing Tommie Sullivan.
Koonce says he looks forward to the full community, including all six who ran in this election, working together to move Brenham ISD forward.
Jantzi says he will continue to use his experience and background in teaching and education to serve around the community where he can. He congratulates the winners and wishes them good luck in their mission to improve Brenham ISD.
Colley will fill the Position 6 seat of Natalie Lange, who, like Sullivan, did not run for re-election. Colley attained 1,615 votes to Mike Garner’s 1,530.
Colley says he is eager for this opportunity to serve Brenham ISD.
Krenek, the Position 7 incumbent, was re-elected to his seat after beating challenger Walt Edmunds 1,880-1,284.
Krenek is grateful to be able to continue serving as a voice for the community on the board of trustees.
KWHI has reached out to Jantzi, Garner and Edmunds for comment.
Unofficial contest totals from the Washington County Elections Office show 3,397 ballots were cast, including 2,363 during early voting and 1,034 on Election Day. Per registered voter totals provided before the beginning of early voting, 22,431 voters could take part in the election.
Congratulations, gentlemen. A few local political (?) organizations overplayed their hands and lost, sadly. It’s a sure bet that there will be more of the same “go along to get along,” with more and more teacher openings to come as a result. Current score: 41 and climbing.
