BURTON STAVES OFF ELIMINATION, FORCES GAME 3 WITH 14-4 ROUT OF FLATONIA

On Friday the Burton Panthers traveled to Bastrop for the second game of their best of 3 series against the Flatonia Bulldogs in the 2A Regional Semi-Final. After a 6-4 loss in game 1, the Panthers were able to come back with an emphatic and dominant performance on Friday. The game started off with the Panthers taking a quick 3-0 lead off of 2 singles by Tyler Witt and Logan Tosta along with a 2 RBI double by Braydon Martin in the top of the 1st inning. But, it was short lived as the Bulldogs took the lead in the 2nd with a 3 run inning of their own after the Panthers left the bases loaded with 3 strikeouts in a row. But, the Panthers were able to bounce back as they have all year with a 7 run inning off of 4 singles by Tyler Witt, Eli Jaeger, Brady Griffin and Issac Matthies along with 2 HBPs and 2 errors courtesy of the Bulldogs in the very next frame. From that point forward it was all Panthers, scoring in all 5 innings to end the game and shutting out Flatonia for a final score of 14-4. With the series tied, Game 3 will take place Saturday at 2:00PM in Bastrop with the KWHI pregame coverage starting at 1:30 in a winner take all game to decide the series and who will advance to the 2A Regional Final.
