WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS TO APPROVE BOND PAYMENT FOR INTERIM DISTRICT CLERK

Washington County Commissioners on Tuesday will look to approve the bond payment for an interim district clerk.

According to Commissioner Kirk Hanath, Kimberley Boyce resigned from the district clerk position on May 20th.  No further explanation was given on the reason for her departure.

Boyce was unopposed in the November 2024 election to fill the unexpired term of the late Tammy Brauner, who resigned in May 2024.  Brauner’s term began in January 2023.

Hanath said 21st District Judge Carson Campbell has selected Carli Koehne, who is currently the executive administrative assistant in the county judge’s office, to serve as the interim district clerk.

Also at the meeting, commissioners will potentially permit the county auditor to solicit a request for qualifications for outside audit services.  If approved, submissions will be due in the county clerk’s office by 10 a.m. on July 10th.  A recommendation will be brought back to the commissioners court for consideration and selection at a later date.

In other business, the court will:

  • Consider approval of private tax resale on account number 14095, pursuant to Texas Property Tax Code Section 34.05.  Per the agenda packet, there has been a tax resale offer on the account which was struck off to Burton ISD in 2017.  A landowner with property near the lot has offered $4,384, but because the bid is less than 100 percent of the original tax sale amount, all entities involved (Washington County, Burton ISD, Blinn College) will need to agree.
  • Discuss a formal notice from PGMS for a new service line installation across the county right-of-way of Brauner Road in Precinct 2.  No action is needed.
  • Discuss a formal notice from ET Gathering and Processing LLC for a natural gas pipeline across the county right-of-way of Homeyer Mountain Road in Precinct 4.  No action is necessary.

Commissioners will meet Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the Washington County Courthouse.  They will also meet on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the Washington County Expo Sales Facility for strategic planning discussion.
