FIREFIGHTERS RESPOND TO LIGHTNING STRIKE AT BRENHAM HOME

The Brenham Fire Department was called out twice on Friday, including for a lightning strike at a home.

Shortly after 5 p.m., BFD members responded to a reported structure fire at a home in the 600 block of West Third Street.  Volunteers from the Meyersville, Salem and Chappell Hill Volunteer Fire Departments were dispatched as automatic aid.  Crews found that the house was struck by lightning, but no fire was found.  Firefighters cleared the call and returned to service.

The other call came just shy of 4 p.m., when units went out to a fire alarm at Brenham Junior High School, 1200 Carlee Drive.  After investigation, they found the alarm system had activated while work was being done to the building, so the alarm was reset.
