BRENHAM’S DR. TINA HENDERSON TO DISCUSS FREEDOM COLONIES ON TUMBLEWEED SMITH’S ‘THE SOUND OF TEXAS’

part of the Smithsonian's Museum on Main Street
program, tells the story of the numerous Freedom
Colonies established in Washington County after
the Civil War, including Spann’s Settlement, Old Gay
Hill, Watrousville, Post Oak Grove and Camptown.
Brenham historian Dr. Tina Henderson will be featured on tomorrow’s (Tuesday) edition of Tumbleweed Smith’s “The Sound of Texas” on KWHI.
Dr. Henderson will talk about the origin of Freedom Colonies in Texas and about the Smithsonian Institution’s Museum on Main Street program that came to Brenham this past winter.
“The Sound of Texas” can be heard Monday through Saturday around 7:20 a.m. on AM 1280, FM 101.7 and kwhi.com.
