GIDDINGS CROSS COUNTRY CAPTURES BOYS AND GIRLS DISTRICT TITLES

The Giddings High School Cross Country program added a pair of District Championships on Monday as both the Buffaloes and Lady Buffaloes came in first place in their respective divisions. The District 22-4A meet was held at Camp Tejas in Giddings.

On the Boys' side, as a team, the Buffaloes finished first, Smithville came in second, Caldwell was third, Navasota was fourth, La Grange was fifth, and Bellville was sixth. Giddings, Smithville, and Caldwell will advance to Regionals.

Also, the top 10 individual finishers move on to Regionals.

The top 10 finishers were:

1.) Ryan Orocio, Giddings, 17:01.05

2.) Aiden Hankins, Giddings, 17:09.51

3.) Spencer Ellis, Caldwell, 17:31.51

4.) Will Metcalf, Smithville, 17:47.05

5.) Dylan Hernandez, Giddings, 17:57.29

6.) Maddox Rivera, Smithville, 18:14.78

7.) Landon Vykukal, Caldwell, 18:19.53

8.) Roman Hernandez, Giddings, 18:26.40

9.) Case Eckermann, Bellville, 18:27.73

10.) Justice Pritchard, Smithville, 18:28.30

Meanwhile, on the Girls' side, as a team, Giddings finished first, La Grange was second, Smithville was third, Bellville was fourth, Caldwell was fifth, and Navasota was sixth. Giddings, La Grange, and Smithville move on to Regionals.

The Regional Cross Country Meet will be held October 20 & 21 at Kate Barr Ross Memorial Park in Huntsville.
