SEALY HIGH SCHOOL TO PERFORM “A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS” THIS WEEKEND
The Tiger Stage Company at Sealy High School is going to bring a holiday classic to life this weekend.
“A Charlie Brown Christmas” takes the stage this Friday and Saturday at the Golson Auditorium. Performances will begin at 6pm both nights.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and children.
Students are going to be performing a stage version of the TV special based on the Peanuts comic strip characters created by Charles M. Schulz just days after the 60th anniversary of when it first aired on television December 9, 1965.
Charlie Brown is feeling depressed, because he doesn’t understand what Christmas is all about.
Lucy tries to help cheer him up by making him the director of their neighborhood nativity play, only nobody wants to listen to him.
Along the way, Charlie Brown and his friends learn about the true meaning of Christmas.
The TV special was adapted for the stage in 2013 by Eric Schaeffer with authorization of the Schulz family, and Lee Mendelsohn, who was the executive producer on the original production.
It has since been performed by schools, churches, and theatre companies across the country.
