PANTHER BASKETBALL FALLS ON THE ROAD TO FAYETTEVILLE

The Burton Panther Basketball Team dropped a non-district game to the Fayetteville Lions yesterday (on Tuesday) 72-57.

Fayetteville jumped out to the early lead 20-11 at the end of the first quarter. They also outscored Burton 15-12 in the second quarter to take a 35-23 lead at halftime.

The Lions increased their lead over the Panthers with a 20-13 third quarter, which gave Fayetteville a 55-36 lead. In the fourth quarter, Burton outscored the Lions 21-17, but by then, the Fayetteville lead was too large.

Jason Gonzalez led Burton with 14 points. Kayden Patterson and Eli Simank finished with 13 points each.

Next up for the Panthers, they will host Hearne this Friday in their district opener. The opening tipoff is scheduled for 1:30pm at the Burton High School Gym.

It will be a doubleheader with the Lady Panthers' game against Hearne starting at 12 noon.
