The ceremony, held this year at Fireman’s Park in Brenham due to ongoing construction at the courthouse, pays tribute to the lives of law enforcement personnel from around the state who have died in the last year. The names of 25 officers were read during today’s observance.
The guest speaker was Washington County Sheriff Trey Holleway, who said law enforcement is not merely a job, but a calling. He encouraged those in attendance to remember the names of those who have passed on as individuals each with their own families and their own stories.

After Holleway’s words and the honoring of fallen officers, the ceremony concluded with the laying of a memorial wreath and the playing of “Taps”.
