JULIANO’S SECOND HALF GOAL SENDS BLINN WOMEN’S SOCCER PAST LSU-EUNICE

The Buccaneers improved to 6-4 overall and 5-3 in the Region 14 South division

The Blinn College women’s soccer team blanked Louisiana State University-Eunice 1-0 in a tightly contested Region 14 matchup Friday at Rankin Field in Brenham, Texas.

The shutout was the Buccaneers’ fifth clean sheet of the season as they improved to 6-4 overall and 5-3 in the Region 14 South Division. Blinn also maintained its position atop the South standings.

The Bucs have now earned back-to-back 1-0 shutouts of the Bengals dating back to last season, when Blinn defeated LSUE 1-0 on Oct. 17, 2025.

“Tonight was a statement from our players,” Blinn head coach Alexandria Jackson said. “LSUE came into this matchup receiving votes nationally (in the NJCAA Division I rankings), so we knew the quality of the team we were facing and the importance of this result.

“I thought our players showed a tremendous amount of drive and perseverance tonight. We outshot LSUE in the first half but couldn’t put one in the back of the net, and there was never a sense of panic. We knew the goal was going to come. It was about staying consistent, trusting what we were doing, and continuing to play our style of football.”

In the 49th minute, midfielder Mikaela Juliano provided the only offense of the match. After she sent a corner kick to sophomore midfielder Taylor Bull, who immediately played the ball back to Juliano. The sophomore fired a shot from the right side of the box through the hands and legs of the Bengals goalkeeper.

The goal was Juliano’s first of the season, making her the 10th Buccaneer to score a goal this fall.

“I think that speaks to just how talented and balanced this team is,” Jackson said. “We have players all over the field who are capable of stepping up and making an impact.”

Blinn outshot LSUE 21-7, including an 8-5 advantage in shots on goal, and earned a 10-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Sophomore goalkeeper Reese Cauthen was in goal for the Bucs and made five saves while earning her third shutout of the season. She improved to 4-3.

Next up for Blinn is a Region 14 road matchup against Texas Southmost College at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, in Brownsville, Texas.
