FAYETTE COUNTY LIFTS BURN BAN

On Thursday, the Fayette County Commissioners Court became the latest government entity to lift its ban on outdoor burning.

At one point all of the surrounding counties were under burn bans due to the hot and dry conditions during August and September.

However, with the recent rainfall, several of the counties have lifted their bans.

Washington County was the first to do so last Friday.

Brazos County and Colorado County lifted their respective burn bans this past Monday.

Meanwhile, Waller County and Grimes County lifted their burn bans on Wednesday.

Austin County, Burleson County, and Lee County, at least for now, are keeping their burn bans in effect.

Although the bans have been lifted in several places, the County Governments do advise everyone to use caution.

They recommend:

Do not start a fire within one hour before sunset.

Do not burn in or near standing vegetation, fields, or wooded areas.

Avoid burning on windy or dry days.

Never leave your fire unattended.
