BRENHAM FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDS TO FIVE CALLS ON FRIDAY
The Brenham Fire Department responded to five calls on Friday.
Brenham Firefighters were dispatched to the 2300 block of FM 2935 just before 10am for a report of a fire alarm sounding. BFD Units arrived on the scene, and found out that the homeowner was doing some construction work, and accidentally set it off. BFD members reset the alarm and returned to service.
About 1:30pm, BFD personnel were called to an accident scene on Highway 36 North at North Park Street. They arrived on location to find an 18-wheeler laying on its side. The driver and the passenger were still inside the vehicle. BFD members used a windshield saw to remove the windshield so the patients could walk out. They also used a plug and dike to stop a leak on the saddle tank cap. BFD units returned to service once the roadway was re-opened.
For the next call, Brenham Firefighters were dispatched to the 100 Block of East Valverde Street around 3:45pm for a report of an alarm sounding. A BFD unit arrived at the scene and found nothing showing from the exterior of the building. BFD members replaced the batteries in the smoke detector, and returned to service.
The Brenham and Chappell Hill Fire Departments were called to the scene of a transportation incident with entrapment at 4:30pm in the 8200 Block of FM 2447. Chappell Hill Firefighters arrived on the scene, and were able to open the door to free the patient. BFD personnel made location, helped with patient care, and use topall on an oil spill. BFD units then returned to service, while Chappell Hill units stayed on the scene.
The final call came in just after 6:30pm in the 1800 Block of Niebuhr Street for a report of an alarm sounding. Firefighters determined that some burnt food set the alarm off. The alarm was reset and they returned to service.
