BRENHAM MAIN STREET GINGERBREAD HOUSE AUCTION RAISES OVER $8,000
Monday night’s Gingerbread House Auction at the historic Simon Theater in Brenham raised more than $8000 for downtown Brenham projects.
A lively crowd inside the Bullock Ballroom at the Simon Theater spent $8275 in the live and silent auctions for 25 gingerbread houses.
South Texas Tack paid $1075 for a beautiful train made of gingerbread, designed by St. Paul’s Christian Day School Grades one through four.
A Victorian style house built by Diane Young also went for $1075 to Susan Cantey. Ms. Cantey also bought two other houses in the live auction.
Other buyers of gingerbread houses in the live auction included Dr. Paul La Roche Dentistry, Brenham Collision Center, Angela Austin, Kori Kelm, Thielemann Construction, Wendi Ragonis, Must Be Heaven, Jay Pine and Eckermann’s Meat Market.
The money raised in the auction will be used by Main Street Brenham to help fund future projects. Past downtown projects of Main Street include Alamo Alley, Belle’s Alley, and incentive grant funds for downtown businesses. Main Street also hosts popular events like the “Hot Nights, Cool Tunes” summer concert series in July, the “Texas Brew Step” craft beer tasting in October, and the “Uptown Swirl” wine tasting in January.
Traci Pyle, Chairman of the Main Street Brenham Board, said she would like to thank everyone who came out Monday night to bid and see the gingerbread houses. Pyle offered a special thank you to all of the students, individuals and businesses who took the time to design and build the houses for the auction. She also thanked Connie Wilder with Funky Art Café and Eckermann's Meat Market for providing the food for the event.
