BLINN TO HOST INFO SESSIONS FOR PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS

  

Blinn College will host information sessions for prospective students interested in pursuing careers in criminal justice.

The Criminal Justice Program will host information sessions at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, on the Brenham campus and at 5:45 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, on the Bryan campus. The Brenham campus session will be held in the Student Center Conference Room (map). The Bryan session will take place in Room 135 of the Science Building (map). Program faculty will lead the sessions and be available to answer questions.

Blinn offers Associate of Arts, Associate of Applied Science and Law Enforcement Technology degrees in criminal justice, as well as a Criminal Justice Corrections certificate. Blinn also offers a Basic Peace Officer Academy certificate through its partnership with the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service Central Texas Police Academy.

The Criminal Justice Program also offers established internships with Brazos Valley law enforcement and criminal justice agencies, and its current contemporary issues course, victimology, is taught by former College Station Police Chief Edgar Feldman, who brings more than 40 years of law enforcement experience to the course.

Criminal Justice Program instructor Janet McNutt chose to become a probation officer because of an internship she landed in a probation department. Several years later, she now teaches the internship course at Blinn.

“That class was pivotal in shaping my career, and I believe it still opens doors for students looking to land careers in the field,” McNutt said. “The Criminal Justice Program at Blinn produces high-quality students who are more than equipped to excel in the careers they select.”
