COMMISSIONERS LOWER SPEED LIMIT ON APPERSON ROAD

The Commissioners of Washington County voted unanimously to reduce the speed from 60mph to 40mph on Apperson road during Tuesday morning’s court. There were no comments from the public during the hearing.

County Commissioner Luther Hueske spoke about how homeowners have approached him regarding the speeders on Apperson road.

Used frequently as a cut-through in the area, landowners along the road signed a petition trying to lower the speed from 60mph to 30mph.Hueske stated he warned the landowners that they would not be successful to that degree. He suggested they had been agreeable to the 40mph.

Chief Deputy of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Jay Petrash mentioned that reducing the speed limit to drastically would be counterproductive. Petrash advised they adopt 40mph speed limit, which was unanimously agreed upon.
