FOUR DEAD IN OVERNIGHT COLLISION NEAR LAKE SOMERVILLE

  

 

Four people, including a six-year old child, are dead after their vehicle was struck head on late Saturday night near Lake Somerville.

Accoring to DPS Sargent Jimmy Morgan, the victims were all in a north-bound Suburban, headed north on LBJ Drive in Washington County, just after 11:00 p.m.  Their vehicle was struck head-on by a south-bound 2016 F250 pickup, that had careened off a guardrail into their path.

The four victims have been identified as: 18-year old Chase Sowders of Somerville--the driver of the Suburban; 18-year old Jasmine Maxwell of Somerville; 37-year old Justin Richard of Houston; and 6-year old Payton Francis of Somerville.  Any relationship between the victims is unknown at this time.

The driver of the pickup, 37-year old Ignacio Aviles of Brenham, is in critical condition at a Bryan hospital.

According to Sgt. Morgan, the cause of the crash is currently under investigation.  Responding to the scene was DPS, Washington County Sheriff's deputies, Burleson Co. Sheriff's deputies, Brenham Fire Department, Texas Dept. of Parks and Wildlife, Washington County EMS and the EMS helicopter.
