Jeremy Clayton
(Austin Co. Jail)

An Austin County man is in custody after a two-day manhunt earlier this week in Austin and Colorado counties.

35-year old Jeremey Clayton was initially contacted by Austin County deputies in the early morning Monday morning.  Clayton was wanted for a Felony Parole Violation by the State of Texas.

According to authorities, Clayton fled in the vehicle, and eluded capture.

Over the next 24 hours, Austin County Sheriff’s deputies investigated numerous citizen sightings of Clayton in the Cat Spring – New Ulm areas of Austin County.

Tuesday, he was spotted walking in a field near the 19000 block of FM 1094.   A search included Austin County Sheriff’s deputies, Sealy Police officers, DPS troopers, Bellville police, air surveillance and a police K-9 unit from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department.

Eventually, K-9 “Kolt” tracked Clayton to a swampy area of the woods where he was taken into custody.

Clayton was booked into the Austin County Jail on the original Parole Violation Felony as well as several new felony charges related to evading in a vehicle.
