BRENHAM WINTER MARKET TO FEATURE PUPPY PARADE

Organizers of the Brenham Market are hosting a special “Puppy Parade” and ugly sweater contest this Saturday to benefit Urgent Animal Rescue of Hearne.

The Brenham Market Winter Show is starting 2017 off right with two days of antiques, collectibles and crafts at the Washington County Fairgrounds. In addition, a new event for our four-legged friends is kicking off the festivities Saturday morning.

The first ever “Puppy Parade” will take place at 11 a.m. All animals on leashes are invited to attend. In addition, pet owners can dress their animals up in an ugly sweater to compete to win a host of prizes.

Parking and entry to the event is $5. Half of all proceeds will go to Urgent Animal Rescue of Hearne. Organizers are hoping to raise $2,000 to go towards costs associated with fostering animals and veterinary expenses.

Registration for the ugly sweater contest begins before the contest starts at 11 a.m. Final judging and an awards ceremony will begin at 2:30 p.m.

The Brenham Market Winter show continues on Sunday with a variety of vendors and food trucks. The event is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
