FAYETTE COUNTY NACOTICS UNIT MAKE ANOTHER LARGE DRUG BUST
Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that on Tuesday June 30 at approximately 11:00 a.m. the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Canine Unit stopped a Tan Ford F-150 on interstate 10 at the 662 mile-marker for a traffic violation.
After contact with the driver and passenger was made, several criminal indicators were observed and consent to search the vehicle was obtained. Thumann deployed his canine “Lobos” who alerted to the rear door of the vehicle.
Thumann observed Lobos alert to the rear seat of the truck. Thumann gained access to the interior of the seats and observed many large bundles of marijuana.
After further investigation it was discovered that all the seats in the vehicle had been altered and all held large bundles of marijuana. Approximately 105 lbs. of marijuana with a street value of approximately $55,000.00 was located.
The driver, thirty-year old Erika Rodriguez of Rio Grande City and passenger, twenty-five year old Kenneth Kent of Corpus Christ were arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana.
