LOUD EXPLOSION HEARD IN BRENHAM OVERNIGHT

A loud explosion was heard in Brenham early Sunday morning.

According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, a gas safety valve made the sound at a building on Salem Road around 3 a.m.

While the explosion was so loud it woke several people in the area, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office reports it was “nothing to be worried about”.  No serious damages or injuries have been reported.

  1. It was a meteor that made the sonic boom. Had nothing to do with Salem rd. or a gas well.

  2. No conspiracy theories, just want answers! Talked to more Salem Road residents today who also heard nothing but the rest of Kenney, Nelsonville, Industry etc. residents experienced the boom and houses shaking plus the Katy area folks! C’mon man. I have no experience in the oilfield but fully understand the purpose of relief valves. Everyone around here heard the 2 episodes Saturday am and the one at 3 am yesterday. A “relief” valve popping off 3 times in less than 24 hrs? Something wrong somewhere…….maybe

  3. Oil Field Hand is correct. And the Salem fire Dept, along with Washington county S.O. responded to it and checked the area and stood by until a Gas Service tech arrived and shut the compressor down. there is no cover up. if there was a public safety concern the flag would have been raised and the public would have been notified. I was a cold still night and the compressor was in a low area making the explosions seem bigger that they really were. the gas compressor station didn’t even take any damage. this is not the first time this station has had this issue nor will it be the last.

  4. Maybe a passing fighter jet breaking the sound barrier? My brother said it rattled the windows in the house and he lives in cypress and yet some people on Salem road did not hear nothing?

  5. Ladies and gentlemen, I have a grave announcement to make. Incredible as it may seem, both the observations of science and the evidence of our eyes lead to the inescapable assumption that those strange beings who landed in the Jersey farmlands tonight are the vanguard of an invading army from the planet Mars. The battle which took place tonight at Grovers Mill has ended in one of the most startling defeats ever suffered by any army in modern times; seven thousand men armed with rifles and machine guns pitted against a single fighting machine of the invaders from Mars. One hundred and twenty known survivors. The rest strewn over the battle area from Grovers Mill to Plainsboro, crushed and trampled to death under the metal feet of the monster, or burned to cinders by its heat ray. The monster is now in control of the middle section of New Jersey and has effectively cut the state through its center. Communication lines are down from Pennsylvania to the Atlantic Ocean. Railroad tracks are torn and service from New York to Philadelphia discontinued except routing some of the trains through Allentown and Phoenixville. Highways to the north, south, and west are clogged with frantic human traffic. Police and army reserves are unable to control the mad flight. By morning the fugitives will have swelled Philadelphia, Camden, and Trenton, it is estimated, to twice their normal population. At this time martial law prevails throughout New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania. We take you now to Washington for a special broadcast on the National Emergency . .

  6. Channel 13 in Houston reported valve on Salem Road. Funny thing, I have family on Salem Road and they didn’t hear anything. We live in Kenney and at 2:59 I thought my house blew up. Whatever happened it shook the house live I’ve never experienced. Sounds like “fake news” to me. I was out of town Saturday morning but neighbors also felt the 2 booms then as well. Hmm………..

  7. Face it, the hope of any transparency and truth is covered up with? You guessed it, MONEY!!! It will get worse before it gets better. Oversights are disappearing, deliberately and with purpose. Personally, I did not choose it. The rest can own it.

  8. what happened I lived in town on stone st by power station and did not hear any noise on sunday or Saturday

  9. I live on Salem Road, about a mile from Walmart. I didn’t hear a thing and neither did my husband.

  10. I heard 2 explosions in St clair shores Sunday 26 2017 but not sure of time. Around 1130. Any info?

      1. My mom was born and raised in St. Clair Shores MI!! What a small world. I grew up in that area too but now live down here in Brenham. I had to do a double take when I read this post!

  11. It was about 3:07 am. Scared the daylights out of me. Reminded me of Salt Dome in 1992. Someone knows something ?

  12. I heard a loud boom around 3 am too and I’m just west of Katy. It was loud enough to make our windows rattle.

  13. We live between Bellville and Nelsonville and heard two explosions Saturday morning. One at 4:22 am and one at 5:35 am, the loudest being the 4:22 am. Sunday morning another loud explosion occurred at 2:59 am. With this many occurrences it seems like there would be more information on the source of the explosions.

  14. We heard two loud noises like a explosion Saturday morning around 3 am and 4. Wonder if the explosion happened then too?? We live close to Bellville.

        1. First they said it was an air compressor. Now they say a gas safety valve?? Doesn’t sound safe to me! We need answers!!!

          1. Media can sure make a big deal out of nothing! It was a pressure relief valve on a natural gas compressor! NOT a air compressor. Happens all the time in the oilfield. Nothing to worry about. And I know it was loud but I highly doubt anyone over 5 miles away could hear it. I believe a lot of people are over exaggerating!
