CITY COUNCIL TO LOOK AT FUNDING FOR FIRE TRUCKS, ANIMAL SHELTER AND LIBRARY

Refinancing bonds while looking for ways to fund the new animal shelter and renovations of the Nancy Carol Roberts Library are some of the prime items on the agenda for Thursday’s meeting of the Brenham City Council.

City Manager Terry Roberts says the Council will once again meet with the city’s financial advisor Gary Kimball of Certified Public Finance about the re-funding of general obligation bonds that were approved during a February meeting.

He says Kimball will stay to discuss further ways to get public and private financing to purchase two new fire trucks, build the new animal shelter and the renovations of the library.

The City Council will begin its meeting with a workshop on the status of the Simon Theater.  Roberts says the renovations of the ballroom and the theater could be done by October.

The Brenham City Council is meeting Thursday morning at eight because many on the council have travel plans and other matters to attend to.
