TRAFFIC STOPS LEAD TO FAYETTE COUNTY DRUG ARRESTS

  

On Monday night just before 10pm Deputy Kenneth Kretz stopped a vehicle on I-10 at Mile Marker 667 for a traffic violation.  Once he made contact with the, he reports smelling marijuana coming from the vehicle.  Deputy Kretz detained the driver and conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle.  Deputy Kretz located marijuana in the vehicle and arrested the driver, 30 year old James Rodriguez of Cypress.  Rodriguez has been charged with possession of marijuana and was transported to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center.

Later the same night just before 1:30am Deputy Casey Thumann conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Hwy 71 near the Business 71 exit ramp.  Deputy Thumann noticed a suspicious behavior where it appeared the driver and passenger had switched seats.  After Deputy Thumann made contact with both occupants of the vehicle, the original driver of the vehicle eventually admitted to that they had switched seats.  Deputy Thumann conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle and located a controlled substance and a gun.  Arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and unlawfully carrying a weapon was 22 year old Saah Musa Korfeh Jr. of Katy Texas.
