REPORT: BULLET TRAIN WOULD BRING JOBS TO GRIMES CO.

A federal report says a Grimes County hub for the proposed high-speed bullet train could mean well over 100 new jobs for the area.

The Federal Railroad Administration says a hub in Roans Prairie could net 124 full time jobs for Grimes County.

The Draft Environmental Impact Statement, released by the Federal Railroad Administration, says a path with the least environmental impact, would put the train's lone stop at a hub near State Highway 30 at State Highway 90 in Roans Prairie between Huntsville and College Station.

The report is available to the public on the Federal Railroad Administration website: https://www.fra.dot.gov/Page/P0700

The comment period begins on Friday, and continues through February 20.  Comments may be mailed to Kevin Wright at FRA or submitted through the FRA website.
