BRENHAM CITY COUNCIL TO DISCUSS OIL AND GAS REGULATIONS THURSDAY
The Brenham City Council will discuss potential changes of oil and gas drilling regulations at tomorrow’s (Thursday) meeting.
In work session, the council will explore options that align with new state regulations of oil and gas production. The city has not updated its current ordinance relating to production since 1969.
City Manager James Fisher says the council could look at city leases with potential mineral rights issues.
The council will also look at an agreement with Ion Wave Technologies. Chief Financial Officer Carolyn Miller says this agreement would provide electronic software that would allow the city to keep track of its contractual obligations and insurance requirements. The outlined agreement would be for five years and $71,100.
The city will also discuss a professional services agreement with Strand Associates, Inc., for water main repairs in the 2019 fiscal year. The item calls for replacing old water lines with a new PVC pipe.
The city looks to replace about 11,000 feet of existing water mains, including at Blinn Boulevard, Prairie Lea Street, North Douglas Street, Vulcan Street, and North Park Street. Estimated costs for engineering design and construction services are $117,750, with the whole project expected at $1.5 million.
The council will then adjourn into executive session, to discuss various economic development projects brought before the city.
The council meets tomorrow at 1 p.m., at City Hall.
