CELEBRATION HONORING VETERANS AT BARNHILL CENTER SATURDAY

  

Veterans with their families and friends are invited to come out to the Barnhill Center today (Saturday) at 2 p.m., for the Veterans Centennial Celebration.

The event will start with a salute to Veterans, followed by a classic movie on the big screen, and an ice cream social hosted by Blue Bell Creameries.

The National Anthem will be performed by vocalist Nathaniel Hoelscher, a Blinn student who is part of the Texas All-State Men’s Chorus. Following that, the Brenham High School MCJROTC will perform the short flag ceremony.

The audience will then be treated to the 1946 classic movie, “The Best Years of Our Lives”. It was the first film to win nine Academy Awards.  At the time, it was second only to Gone With The Wind at the U.S. box office.

Blue Bell Creameries will treat attendees to ice cream and sprinkles after the movie. Veterans will be given free mementos to remember their day and proudly wear.

Admission for veterans is free, but space is limited and attendees must reserve seats. Tickets for all non-veterans are $10.  Concessions will be sold before, during and after the movie.
