Residents of Washington County were certainly in the spirit of giving this holiday season.

Citizens got involved in a variety of services and charitable acts, from collecting food, clothes and toys to ringing the Salvation Army bell in front of the Brenham Walmart.

Faith Mission Client Services Director Pam Mossbarger said this holiday season, 440 people volunteered 880 hours to ring the bell for the Salvation Army Red Kettle. All of the money raised will go to help citizens in Washington County, with services like medicine, rental and utility assistance.

Faith Mission partnered with Royer’s Round Top Café to provide meals for a Christmas Day Dinner.

Around 100 people came to the Cannery Kitchen Tuesday evening to have a turkey dinner with gravy, green beans, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie.  In addition, roughly 300 meals were delivered to home bound people.

Also as part of the season, the Brenham Church of Christ provided toys for the families of over 40 children, during the Faith Mission SMART Christmas party.
