BARREL FIRE, BUSTED RADIATOR HOSE AMONG SEVEN CALLS FOR BRENHAM FD BETWEEN MONDAY, EARLY TUESDAY

The Brenham Fire Department responded to five calls on Monday and two early this (Tuesday) morning.

Shortly after 7:45 a.m. Monday, firefighters were dispatched for a gas odor in the 1700 block of San Jacinto Drive.  They stood by until the City of Brenham Gas Department arrived and released them from the scene.

Just past 10 a.m., units were called out to a crash with possible entrapment in the 11700 block of Highway 290 East.  Members of the Chappell Hill Volunteer Fire Department made location first and advised that Brenham firefighters could cancel their response.

Close to 1:15 p.m., BFD members went out to the 2700 block of South Chappell Hill Street for a vehicle fire.  They made location to find no fire, but they did discover a radiator hose had busted, causing steam under the vehicle.  The department returned to service.

At 2:15 p.m., personnel received a report of a crash at South Day Street and Medical Courts.  When they arrived, they found all vehicles were off the roadway, and they were released by Brenham police.

Around 5:30 p.m., units were sent out to Highway 36 North and North Park Street for a fire investigation. They found a fire in a barrel and extinguished the fire, due to it being within city limits.

Nearing 12:30 a.m. today, a fire alarm was called in from Prairie Lea Hall, 911 West Fifth Street.  At the scene, firefighters found an issue with a smoke detector in a room and reset the alarm.

Around 4 a.m., BFD members were dispatched for a gas odor in the 400 block of Lounge Road.  They stood by until the gas department arrived and released them from the call.
