CHARLES MOSER RUNNING FOR RE-ELECTION TO BLINN BOARD
Blinn Board Chair Charles Moser has announced his bid for re-election.
Moser made the announcement today (Thursday) that he would be a candidate for re-election to At-Large Position One. Moser has served four years on the board, completing an unexpired term.
With enrollment at Blinn at an all-time high, Moser cited construction of the Kruse and Doyle Coatney athletic complexes, the new 450-student Mill Creek residence hall, and total renovation of the student cafeteria area as projects completed within his four years on the board.
In addition, the board recently approved $30 million in funding for a new science and technology building for the Brenham campus, the first new academic building to be built on the campus in over 40 years.
There are also plans in place for total renovation of the Moody Library, as well as additional lighting and expansion of the agriculture complex, on the Brenham campus. Blinn also recently partnered with Texas A&M University to develop and build facilities at the new RELLIS campus in Brazos County.
Moser said Blinn needs to be prepared to provide more services and programs at new sites in Blinn’s area, citing Waller and Austin Counties as “prime for sizeable growth”. He said that growth will come with requests for workforce and academic offerings.
Moser was editor/publisher of the Brenham Banner-Press for 40 years, before his retirement in 2010. He has served on the boards of Trinity/Scott and White Hospital, the Brenham Industrial Foundation, Washington County Chamber of Commerce, Washington-on-the-Brazos, Lower Colorado River Authority and Brazos River Authority.
This announcement comes shortly after longtime trustee Atwood Kenjura opted not to run for re-election, after serving 43 years on the board. It was also recently stated that local businessman Jim Kolkhorst will seek election to the position left open by Kenjura.
Wednesday was the first day to file for a spot on the ballot in May’s election. The last day to file is February 15th, and early voting gets underway April 22nd.
