WASHINGTON CO. 4-H COMPETES, EARNS HIGH HONORS IN CONSUMER DECISION MAKING CONTEST

  

Washington County 4-H members placed high in the 70^th San Antonio Livestock Show Consumer Decision Making Contest this past Saturday.

Ten Washington County 4-Hers were part of 329 contestants, who judged six classes and talked reasons on classes depending on their age level.

The purpose of the Consumer Decision Making Contest is to develop decision-making skills based on facts, and to gain knowledge in consumer education by analyzing consumer situations. Classes judged included sunglasses, fast food, cookware, vehicles, outdoor equipment, and other categories.

The team of Intermediate 4-Hers (grades 6-8), including Madison Moran, Adrie Niemeyer, Haylie Niemeyer and Dalton Winkelmann, earned Champion Intermediate Team honors. The team placed first out of 38 teams competing with a score of 944, 17 points above the 2^nd place team.

In addition, Moran was recognized as 2^nd Place High Point Individual, one point from the 1^st place honor out of 116 Intermediate 4-Hers.  Adrie Niemeyer was recognized as 4^th Place High Point Individual, Winkelmann ranked 40^th, and Haylie Niemeyer was 67^th.

Seniors competing (grades 9-12) were Clayton Boeker, Alex Dallmeyer, MaryCaroline Bearden, and Marshall Wagner. Their team earned 13^th place out of 46 teams.  Out of 143 seniors competing, Boeker earned 17^th High Point Individual, Dallmeyer ranked 47^th, Bearden finished 87^th, and Wagner was 94^th.

Juniors competing (grades 3-5) out of 70 individuals were Mallory Winkelmann and Logan Boeker. Their team placed 19^th out of 23 teams.  Boeker finished 26^th and Winkelmann ranked 65^th, in their first ever Consumer Decision Making Contest.
