Jasinski, who passed away last year on July 19th at the age of 15, was active in a number of community organizations.  In addition to showing livestock at the Washington County Fair as a member of the Burton 4-H Club, and being a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Burton, he was also a member of the Burton Volunteer Fire Department.

Noted for his passion for firefighting and his skill in operating the city’s firefighting equipment, he was selected to serve as the mascot for the State Firefighters’ and Fire Marshals’ Association of Texas.

Kolkhorst said Jasinski was “an exemplary young man whose captivating smile, commitment to helping others, and enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest will not be forgotten”.  She said Jasinski gave unselfishly of himself to others, and leaves behind a “lasting example of public service and generosity that will be remembered forever by his family, friends and community”.
