Lowell Ogle, Assistant City Manager of Public Utilities, is departing after 35 years with the city. He will close out his time with the city in October, and take a new position with the Lower Colorado River Authority.

Ogle began his career in April 1984 at the age of 19 as a meter reader in the Utility Department. Promotions soon became commonplace for Ogle, who moved to the Gas Department in 1986.

Ogle was appointed Gas System Manager in 1995, promoted to Environmental and Regulations Manager in 1998, and to Utility Operations Manager 2002. He would then become the Public Utilities Director in 2004, which was reclassified in 2015 to his current title of Assistant City Manager.

Although Ogle could not be reached directly for comment, he said in a release issued by the city that he is very thankful for the time he has spent in the community, and made plenty of memories along the way. He said it is difficult to move on knowing that the city is moving in a good direction, but he knows there are many other hard-working employees that will help accomplish the city’s goals.

City Manager James Fisher said Ogle was one of the first employees he met when he first arrived in Brenham, and immediately offered a helping hand. He said it will be nearly impossible to replace Ogle’s “work ethic, character, enthusiasm, mentorship, knowledge, and deep love for his fellow employees”.

Ande Bostain, fellow city employee and longtime friend of Ogle, said the two of them have been together at the city for almost 34 years, with their friendship extending as far back as Burton High School. He said Ogle “always puts 100 percent effort into everything he does”, and will be greatly missed.

The City of Brenham thanks Ogle for his many years of service, and wishes him luck in the next chapter of his life.
