BRENHAM MAN SENTENCED TO 18 MONTHS IN JAIL FOR BURGLARY
A Brenham man faces a year and a half behind bars on a burglary charge.
29-year-old Tommy Harrison Benson was sentenced to 18 months in jail for Burglary of a Building, a state jail felony.
Benson was arrested in November of 2017 on a warrant for the offense, which occurred a month earlier on October 8th.
Also sentenced this week in 21st judicial district court:
29-year-old Jonathan Avery of Big Springs, for Organized Retail Theft between $500 and $1,500, a state jail felony. Avery was sentenced to 16 months in jail for the offense, which occurred August 8, 2014.
63-year-old Reginald Anthony Garner of Houston, for Evading Arrest or Detention with a Vehicle, a third-degree felony. Garner was sentenced to five years’ probation for the offense, which occurred July 8, 2018. He will also have to pay a $500 fine, a $50 crime stoppers fee, perform 200 hours of community service restitution, and undergo drug/alcohol evaluation and treatment.
23-year-old Jaylon Whitley of Brenham, for Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Marijuana, both state jail felonies. Whitley faces three year’s deferred adjudication probation for each of the offenses, and will also have to pay a $500 fine, lab and crime stoppers fees, perform 200 hours of community service, undergo drug/alcohol evaluation and treatment, and complete a drug offender education program.
