LOCAL ATHLETES HAVE OUTSTANDING SUNDAY IN NFL ACTION

Malcom Brown
(New Orleans Saints)

It was a good day, Sunday, for local players in the National Football League.

Defensive tackle Malcom Brown of Brenham, helped lead the New Orleans Saints (3-1) to a 12-10 win over the Dallas Cowboys.

Brown had four tackles, three solo and two for losses, in the Saints’ win.  The New Orleans defense limited the Cowboys to 255 yards total offense and held Ezekiel Elliot to just 35 yards rushing.

Brown and the Saints will host Tampa Bay, Sunday at noon.

Courtland Sutton
(Denver Broncos)

Former Cub Courtland Sutton had a huge day in Denver’s hard-fought loss to Jacksonville, 26-24.

Sutton caught six passes for 64 yards and a pair of touchdowns.  The former SMU standout has caught 22 passes for 309 yards, so far this season.

Emmanuel Sanders
(Denver Broncos)

Sutton’s teammate, Bellville-native Emanuel Sanders, caught five passes for 104 yards, giving him 23 catches for 289 yards and two scores for the year.

Another former Cubs, Austin Schlottmann is a backup offensive lineman for the Broncos.

Former Blinn Buccaneer DeDe Westbrook led the Jaguars with five receptions for 66 yards.
