BURTON CITY COUNCIL TO REVISIT PEACOCK DISCUSSION TUESDAY

The Burton City Council will potentially reach a decision tonight (Tuesday) on what to do with the town’s two resident peacocks: Percy and Chester.

The council tabled action at its past two meetings to continue discussing the city’s stance on the peacock population.  Those two meetings drew large attendance from the public, weighing in on having the birds freely roam the city or keeping them contained.

City Attorney Aaron Kleinschmidt is expected to bring a new animal control ordinance before the council for consideration.

The council will also consider:

  • Adoption of an ordinance creating an asset capitalization policy.
  • Approving the Washington County Appraisal District to purchase a new fleet vehicle using reserved funds.  It will also consider making nominations to serve on the Appraisal District Board.

The council will meet this afternoon at 5:30 p.m., at Burton City Hall.
