KOLKHORST, LEMAN, McCAUL UNOPPOSED IN MARCH PRIMARIES
With the filing deadline for March primaries in the rearview mirror, two local representatives will face opposition come November.
District 18 State Senator and incumbent Lois Kolkhorst will run unopposed in the Republican primary, while the Democratic primary will have attorney Michael Antalan of Katy.
After initially being elected in a special election in 2014, Kolkhorst defeated Libertarian Kathie Stone with 85 percent of the vote in 2016’s general election.
For U.S. Representative District 10, incumbent Michael McCaul will not have opposition in the Republican primary. However, three Democratic candidates will face one another in their primary: physician Pritesh Gandhi of Austin, attorney Shannon Hutcheson of Austin, and civil rights attorney Mike Siegel of Austin.
After assuming office in 2005, McCaul was re-elected in 2018 with 51.1 percent of the vote, defeating Siegel and Libertarian Mike Ryan.
District 13 State Representative Ben Leman and 21st Judicial District Judge Carson Campbell, both incumbents, do not have any opposition in the Republican primary, and no Democratic candidates have filed for either position.
The primary elections will be held March 3, 2020.
