SECOND COVID-19 POSITIVE CASE IN GRIMES CO. CONTRACTED THROUGH “HOUSEHOLD CONTACT” WITH FIRST CASE
Grimes County Emergency Management officials have confirmed their second case of COVID-19, and are saying the second case contracted the virus through “household contact” with the first case.
According to an announcement Friday evening from the Grimes County Office of Emergency Management, both cases were travel related, and both individuals contracted the virus while traveling outside Grimes County. Emergency management officials say neither individual made contact with anyone in Grimes County at any point during their return home.
The first case in Grimes County was reported Wednesday in a man in his 50s. No information was given on the second case, and authorities have not said where the two traveled or when they came back to Grimes County.
The Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) is reporting that there is currently no community spread in the county.
Emergency management officials say any further information provided on either of these two cases could potentially lead to their identities being uncovered. For this reason, DSHS has advised that any such information cannot be released. Officials say all information regarding these two cases that can be released has been released.
