THREE BRYAN POLICE OFFICERS TEST POSITIVE FOR COVID-19

Three Bryan police officers are currently recovering from the coronavirus.

Friday, the Bryan Police Department announced three of its officers had tested positive for COVID-19.  The department said each of the officers appear to have mild cases and seem to be recovering well.

While the department did not clarify where these officers work within the department, it did say it is “reasonably confident” that they had no interactions with the public in their official capacity.

The Bryan Police Department said it continues to work closely with the Brazos County Health District and medical professionals to make sure proper procedures that are consistent with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) are in place.

According to the department, if an officer shows symptoms of any illness, they are sent home to self-monitor.  It added if an employee shows symptoms of COVID-19 or reports they were in direct contact with someone showing COVID-19 symptoms, they are immediately sent home to self-quarantine.

The department said it is sanitizing patrol vehicles between each shift, regularly cleaning work stations, practicing social distancing, and using personal protective equipment when appropriate.
