STANPAC, GERMANIA DONATE $10,000 EACH TO WASHINGTON CO. COVID-19 RESPONSE FUND

A pair of Brenham businesses are doing their part to provide economic relief to other businesses in need.

Stanpac and Germania Insurance have each donated $10,000 to the Washington County COVID-19 Response Fund, which was established to provide grants to the county’s at-risk small businesses with fewer than 20 full-time employees.

Stanpac Vice President of Marketing Murray Bain said the people, businesses, and officials of Washington County have been very helpful and generous to the company over the years.  Bain said the company is fortunate to be able to “give back to the community during this challenging and stressful time”.  He added that, while the company’s headquarters may be in Canada, its teams at all of its locations “keep their ears to the ground” to determine how best the company can help where needed.

Germania President and CEO Paul Ehlert said serving the local community has always been very important to the company, and small businesses “play a major role in bringing growth and innovation to the community”.  Ehlert said “it is our corporate responsibility to be here during these challenging times to support our fellow businesses who may need a helping hand”.

According to City of Brenham Chief Financial Officer Carolyn Miller, the fund has received approximately $94,414 in donations, including a $50,000 donation from the City of Brenham last week.  Round one of funding disbursed $23,486 for 16 small businesses, while round two provided $34,153 for 17 businesses.  The third round of funding will have $36,469 available to distribute to eligible businesses.

Qualifying small businesses can receive anywhere from $500 to $3,000 in funds.  To learn more, to apply, or to donate, visit www.brenhamed.com/covidresponsefund.
