PEACEFUL PROTESTORS GATHER IN BRENHAM; SECOND PROTEST PLANNED TUESDAY
Dozens of peaceful protestors lined North Park Street by the American Legion Hall and Henderson Park in Brenham Monday evening to ask for justice, following the death of Houston-native George Floyd in Minneapolis.
The gathering started with a small group which gradually grew as the evening went on, with each side of the street holding several dozen people. The event remained peaceful throughout its duration.
Leticia Wills was the coordinator of Monday’s gathering, and also protested for several hours Sunday in Bryan. She said it was important for the people of Brenham to get involved in the movement.
Wills said she was happy to see a very diverse group turn out for Monday’s gathering, consisting of people of all ages and ethnic groups.
Many cars driving by on Park Street honked their horns and waved in support of the protestors, several of which held up signs reading “No Justice, No Peace”, “Black Lives Matter”, and “I Can’t Breathe”.
Another protest is planned this (Tuesday) evening at the same location and same time, from 5 to 7 p.m.
