BRENHAM MAN INDICTED FOR KIDNAPPING, UNLAWFUL RESTRAINT, ASSAULT OF A FAMILY MEMBER

A Brenham man has been indicted by the Washington County Grand Jury for several charges, including kidnapping.

Chad Michael Nugent
(Washington Co. Jail)

A criminal indictment filed May 12th charges 35-year-old Chad Michael Nugent with Aggravated Kidnapping, Unlawful Restraint Causing Exposure to Serious Bodily Injury, and Assault of a Family Member Impeding Breath or Circulation.

The charges are connected to an incident on March 27th, where Nugent, according to the indictment, abducted the victim by restricting the victim’s movements without consent, with intent to inflict bodily injury, violate, sexually abuse, or terrorize the victim.  The indictment reads the victim was moved from one place to another or confined by being held in a place where the victim was not likely to be found.

Nugent also, according to the indictment, exposed the victim to “substantial risk of serious bodily injury” by kicking and striking the victim and stomping on the victim’s neck.  The indictment alleges Nugent caused bodily injury by applying pressure to the throat or neck of the victim, impeding normal breathing or blood circulation.

Nugent was booked into the Washington County Jail May 18th, and remains in custody on $55,000 bond.  The indictment notes that Nugent was convicted in December of 2010 for felony Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Aparis Unique Higgs
(Lee Co. Jail)

Also indicted Tuesday were 33-year-old Aparis Unique Higgs and 19-year-old Ricky Caldwell, both of Round Rock, for Aggravated Robbery.  The two are accused of robbing the Sunoco convenience store in Chappell Hill at gunpoint on April 21st, then fleeing the scene onto Highway 290 West.

Ricky Caldwell

Higgs and Caldwell were also charged with Evading Arrest in Lee County, after leading authorities on a chase through Lee and Bastrop Counties with speeds hitting 130 miles per hour.  The two were arrested after their vehicle was spiked by law enforcement officials.

Cedrick Leonard Gee
(Washington Co. Jail)

In that incident, a male subject suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg after a verbal argument had taken place.  The victim was pulled over by a Washington County Sheriff’s Deputy near Highway 105 and FM 50, and was transported to the hospital.
