Former Brenham Cubs offensive lineman Austin Schlottmann of the Denver Broncos is getting ready for an NFL season that will undoubtedly be unlike any other.

Schlottmann, a 2014 graduate of Brenham High School and All-State offensive lineman, is preparing for his third season with the Broncos, since signing as a free agent prior to the 2018 season, with reunited him with former Cubs teammate and Denver wide receiver Courtland Sutton.

Appearing on Monday night’s edition of the Brenham Sports Line, Schlottmann told host Ed Pothul, while this has been an unusual off-season, he and some teammates have been able to get some work in prior to camps opening up in late July…

Schlottmann, who was an All-Big 12 center at T.C.U., says he’s interested to see what affect social distancing and COVID-19 testing will have on N.F.L. training camps…

After spending the entire 2018 season on the Broncos’ practice squad, Schlottmann made the active roster coming out of training camp in his second season with the team.  He was named the starting right guard for the final four games of the 2019 season, drawing praise for his play.

He said he’s really excited about going into the 2020 season with a legitimate chance to earn a regular starting position…
