WASHINGTON CO. COURTHOUSE PROJECT ON SCHEDULE TO FINISH BEFORE END OF YEAR

Washington County officials say construction at the courthouse is on track to wrap up before the end of the year.

In an update on social media, the county said it anticipates the Phase II exterior restoration project at the courthouse will be complete by the end of November.

Officials from the county held a meeting on Thursday with the architect and contractor involved with the project.  Per the county’s update, construction crews are progressing with masonry and stonework on the south and east sides of the courthouse.  Work on the north and west sides of the courthouse is expected to start within the next two months.

According to the county, it has received the approved pointing mortar and is conducting preparation work before final pointing begins.  Glass samples were reviewed on-site on Thursday, and the project team is nearing approval from the Texas Historical Commission.  Meanwhile, the restoration team is inspecting areas behind the panels and plaster to allow for any needed repairs to be made.

The county thanks everyone for their patience as work continues.
