TxDOT TO HOLD VIRTUAL PUBLIC MEETING ON HIGHWAY 290 CLOVERLEAF INTERCHANGE
TxDOT will seek public input later this month on proposed improvements to the Highway 290 cloverleaf interchange with Highway 36.
A virtual public meeting is slated to begin on Thursday, November 19th at 3 p.m., and will discuss the proposed construction of a new interchange. The meeting will remain open online through Friday, December 4th.
The meeting will consist of a pre-recorded presentation by the project team with both audio and visual components, and will allow opportunities for public comment.
The primary focus of the proposed project is to build a new interchange that will provide a continuous route along Highway 290, maintain two lanes in each direction, and keep access to local roads. Three concepts were originally presented to Brenham and Washington County officials in March 2019, but continued analysis led to the creation of two additional concepts and the modification of one of the original concepts for a total of five that will be shown during the meeting.
All concepts include expanding Highway 290/Highway 36 connection from one to two lanes, completing conversion to one-way frontage roads, updating entrance and exit ramps to current standards, and accommodating bicyclists and pedestrians within urban settings.
According to TxDOT, the proposed project would, subject to final design considerations, require additional right of way and potential displacements. Information about relocation assistance for displaced persons and businesses is available by calling 979-213-7591.
