Four Houston residents have been arrested after Brenham police say they were involved in a series of vehicle thefts.

At around 2 a.m. this (Tuesday) morning, police responded to a report of a vehicle burglary in the 2400 block of Stone Hollow Drive.  During the initial investigation, police learned that unknown subjects attempted to steal a Ford F-350 pickup.

As officers checked the area, another heavy duty pickup and Jeep SUV were seen traveling on South Market Street and then on Heritage Road, a dead end.  Police were able to obtain a license plate and description after seeing the Jeep SUV again when it left the area.

Moments later, police say they found the Ford pickup abandoned.  The truck had damage to the steering column indicating it may have been recently stolen.

Washington County Sheriff’s deputies located the Jeep SUV, occupied by three men and one woman, at a gas station in Chappell Hill.  A search of the vehicle found that it held what police say were “criminal instruments related to auto thefts and other crimes commonly involving the use of stolen heavy duty trucks.”

After police completed their initial investigation, they determined that the subjects in the Jeep SUV attempted to steal the vehicle from the 2400 block of Stone Hollow Drive, and then stole the second truck from the 1500 block of South Austin Street.

The four occupants, 27-year-old Jordan Ross Abbs, 24-year-old Edward Jamal Williams, 23-year-old Johnathan Marquis Williams, and 36-year-old Shemaco Nicole Potts were all placed in custody for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and Unlawful Use of Criminal Instruments, both state jail felonies.  Bond has not yet been set.
