CITY OF BRENHAM ADOPTS NEW PROCESS FOR FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM TESTERS, INSPECTORS

A new process has been instituted for service providers who inspect and test fire protection systems in Brenham.

At its previous meeting, the Brenham City Council voted to approve an agreement with Brycer, LLC for the fire department to adopt The Compliance Engine, a web-based service that will track and streamline the collection of compliance data.

Effective April 1st, all service providers who inspect or test fire protection systems within Brenham’s jurisdiction are required to register and submit all test, inspection and service reports via The Compliance Engine’s online system.

Brenham Fire Marshal Roger Williams said this electronic system will give notifications to property owners to remind them of their testing requirements.

Williams said this is not a tool to force businesses into putting fire protection systems in.  Rather, he said it is for established locations that already have fire protection systems in place.

Williams said this process should increase market opportunity and demand for fire protection services; ensure all reports arrive, affording the ability to track the department’s follow-up; enhance maintenance revenue and timeliness of efficiency corrections; improve customer retention with renewal notifications; and minimize the number of non-licensed contractors working in the market.

All reports must be submitted in accordance with the testing schedule and requirements outlined in the adopted fire code.

Licensed fire protection system contractors who are not currently registered with Brycer can do so at www.thecomplianceengine.com.  The process requires the service provider to pay a nominal filing fee at the time of submittal.  Once registered, service providers can view pricing under the AHJ icon in The Compliance Engine.

Anyone with questions about the system can contact Williams at 979-337-7300 or rwilliams@cityofbrenham.org.
