CITY OF BRENHAM SPLASH PAD REOPENS APRIL 1ST WITH REDUCED HOURS

The splash pad at Henderson Park in Brenham will reopen next week, but with a temporary schedule change.

Upon reopening Thursday, April 1st, the hours for the splash pad will be reduced, due to the Brazos River Authority’s (BRA) Stage 1 drought watch for Lake Somerville leading to voluntary water conservation efforts.

The temporary hours of operation for the splash pad are 2 to 7 p.m.  City staff will re-evaluate after 30 days.

In recent months, funding from the Brenham Community Development Corporation (BCDC) was used to build and install several splash pad improvements, including sidewalks for connectivity, a single-family restroom, additional seating, and a bike rack.  A shade structure was also built using a grant from the H-E-B Tournament of Champions Charitable Trust.

  1. Seems to me that if we’re trying to conserve water the splash pad should be one of the first things cut.

    1. I fully agree with you. When the splash pad opened, I left a reply asking how much water it uses in its 5 minute cycle. Apparently, no one with the city ever reads any of the stories on KWHI or if they do, they were not going to respond.
